Why is it essential to prepare for and to integrate psychedelic journeys?
Ayahuasca & Soma can offer profound benefits for healing addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma and the root disconnection at the core of many of our problems. They can also expand our capacity for creativity, compassion, awe, gratitude and love.
However, these are incredibly powerful compounds that should be approached with care.
A secular approach to Dharma (Buddhism) and meditation can empower us to prepare for, navigate and integrate these potentially transformative journeys.
Integrating Ayahuasca & Soma with Buddhist teachings gives us a clear sense of path: practices that optimize our chances for healing, growth and transformation.
Grounded Body:
When working with extremely powerful compounds that produce highly transcendent experiences, it is particularly important to stay grounded, connected to our bodies and our intuition, to guard against being swept away by the potent feelings, fears and fantasies that can get stirred up by these powerful medicines.
Open Heart:
Awakening the heart is central to any spiritual path or healing journey. Combining Buddhist teachings on wisdom, love and compassion with the profound intelligence of Ayahuasca and Soma can offer a potent catalyst for reconnecting with our true nature, our basic goodness and our interdependence with all of life.
Clear Mind:
Through meditation and plant medicine, we are polishing the mirror of the mind to develop deeper insight into the causes of genuine happiness and well being. Buddhist teachings offer maps that allow us to navigate this territory with more wisdom and ease. They provide practices that empower us to let go of old patterns and transform the way that we perceive the world.
Neither meditation nor psychedelics will magically solve all of our problems, but they can teach us to surf the ups and downs of life more skillfully.
By meditating together, we can begin to better understand ourselves and the world around us.
Sahaja Soma is for…
Secular Dharma
These teachings and practices are for people of any religious faith or none. A secular approach to Buddhist teachings is like training in mental fitness: it offers us a path for optimizing our mental health and realizing our life’s potential.
Entrepreneurs & Creatives
Artists & creatives who wish to learn meditation and/or cultivate inner resources to prepare for, navigate and integrate Ayahuasca & Soma journeys, as a means for bringing forth more art, creativity and beauty into the world.
Healing Disconnection
Disconnection from ourselves is the core wound at the root of many of our problems, from addiction to anxiety to loneliness. Building the life we want, a life filed with joy and healthy relationships, has to rest on a solid foundation of our relationship with ourselves.
People who are looking for…
Healthier Relationships
The quality of our relationships is the most important variable in life satisfaction. But in order to attract and build the relationships we would like, we need to become more self aware around our relationship with ourselves, who we are attracting, and why.
Managing ADHD
Today, I am a much more calm, centered and content person thanks to Buddhist teachings, meditation and plant medicines. I enjoy working with people who have ADHD, as well as other people who identify as “neurodivergent” or neuroatypical.”
Aesthetic Appreciation
Both meditation and plant medicines are a process of refinement—not simply of our character but of our aesthetic appreciation. We’re opening to seeing the world with more awe, wonder and beauty.
Creative Expression
Cut through obstacles to creative output by reconnecting with the sense of eros, or life force, that inspires us to create and to connect.
Ayahuasca and Soma are like fertilizer for the soil of the heart-mind: that’s why it’s so important that we’re planting the right seeds in all areas of our life. The medicine will amplify what’s happening inside of us.

Hi, I’m Adrian.
This is my experience with meditation & psychedelics:
I’ve been meditating since 2010 and I am a graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Most of my training has been in the Nondual Tantric traditions of Vajrayana Buddhism and Shaiva Shakta Tantra. I’ve spent extensive time practicing meditation on silent retreat. Moreover, I have worked with psychedelics as a tool for personal growth for over 25 years.

• Trauma based expertise: I do my best to be trauma informed but I’m not an expert in trauma, so if you’re actively working with deeply held, unresolved trauma, I would say that these services are absolutely for you but that you should already have or find a specialist in trauma to support you in these areas, as I am not an expert in trauma.

If you’re only interested in meditation and not psychedelics, that’s no problem.
If you’re looking for support for psychedelic journeys, it is essential that you’re interested in cultivating an embodied, contemplative (i.e. meditative) approach.
-
Absolutely not. There are many people for whom taking psychedelics is not a good idea. First and foremost, those with mental health disorders such as schizophrenia. There are also many contra indications for MAOIs present in Aya and Soma, a long list of list of which people should consult before taking any MAOI. Moreover, some people are simply not ready to truly let go and surrender to the experience. Being nervous is a sign of healthy humility, but if you have a strong instinct that’s making you hesitate then listen carefully to that intuition. Finally, I would underscore that people, even those with a strong desire to work with entheogens, who are mentally ungrounded should not use psychedleics until their mental condition is more stable. This is why it’s extremely important to have a regular practice—meditation, yoga, a larger ethical and spiritual framework—in order to ground, guide and integrate entheogenic journeys.
-
In this context, Soma refers to an Ayahuasca analogue that contains the plant Peganam Harmala, or Syrian Rue, instead of the Ayahuasca vine known as Banisteriopsis Caapi. Like Aya, in the Soma brew the other plant contains the psychedelic compound DMT.
-
Yes. This is not about dogma but about directly investigating the truth of our own experience and coming to know ourselves.
Begin with a 30-minute discovery call.
In this initial call, we’ll touch base on your experience with meditation as well as your intentions for communing with entheogens. I’ll also dive into my personal experience and address any questions you may have. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll then discuss a coaching plan that works best for you. Before we begin, however, I invite you to inquire into your purpose for embarking on this journey such that we can discuss everything openly and transparently.
